The Sarasota Concert Association’s 2024-25 80th anniversary Great Performers Series, featuring The Cleveland Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the 300th Anniversary Celebration of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and the National Symphony Orchestra continues. These concerts, featuring renowned orchestras and award-winning pianists and violinists, promise unforgettable evenings of artistry and inspiration.
The Cleveland Orchestra | January 26, 2025
Recognized as one of the finest orchestras in the world, The Cleveland Orchestra performs at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Under the baton of Singaporean conductor Kahchun Wong, the orchestra will perform Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibitionand Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, featuring Japanese violinist Sayaka Shoji—the orchestra’s exceptional precision and lush sound promise a memorable performance.
Czech National Symphony Orchestra | February 13, 2025
Continuing the series, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra brings the heart of Europe to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota. Led by conductor Jan Chalupecký, their program includes Mozart’s “Prague” Symphony No. 38 and Dvořák’s Piano Concerto, featuring 21-year old pianist Maxim Lando, and highlighting the orchestra’s rich musical heritage and emotive power.
Vivaldi’s 300th Anniversary Celebration | March 14, 2025
Marking three centuries since the publication of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, this concert at the Riverview Performing Arts Center features violinist Theotime Langlois de Swarte and the renowned French Baroque ensemble Les Arts Florissants in their Sarasota debut. The ensemble, known for its interpretation of Baroque music with period instruments, promises an exceptional performance of the classic works of Vivaldi, Monteverdi and more.
National Symphony Orchestra | March 24, 2025
The National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Gianandrea Noseda, takes the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall stage to perform the season finale of our 80th Anniversary season. The program includes Beethoven’s ever-popular Symphony No. 5 and Korngold’s Violin Concerto, featuring internationally-acclaimed violinist Hilary Hahn. Noseda’s dynamic leadership and the orchestra’s distinctive sound will bring the series to an electrifying conclusion.
