Sarasota Concert Association Announces Its 2023 Season

The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) today announced details of its 2023 concert season. In keeping with its mission, Sarasota Concert Association brings world-renowned orchestras, chamber ensembles and recitalists to Sarasota.
The 2023 Great Performers Series opens with the renowned Emerson String Quartet (January 30, 2023 at Riverview Performing Arts Center), performing in Sarasota as part of their farewell concert tour and presenting musical highlights of their 47-year history. Pianist Awadagin Pratt brings his artistry to the Riverview Performing Arts Center (February 15, 2023) with a varied program of works, from Philip Glass to Rachmaninoff and Liszt.
In his final season as Music Director, Riccardo Muti brings the internationally-acclaimed Chicago Symphony Orchestra to Sarasota for one night only (March 1, 2023 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall) in a program that includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. The English Chamber Orchestra, one of the most recorded chamber orchestras in the world, takes center stage (March 12, 2023 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall) in a program that includes Elgar, Mozart and Haydn.
Concluding the 2023 Great Performers Series, Music Director JoAnn Falletta returns to Sarasota with the Buffalo Philharmonic (March 27 at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall) in a program that includes Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.
Two special events will also be presented during the Sarasota Concert Association’s 2023 season. The Grammy Award-winning male vocal ensemble, Chanticleer, brings their popular Christmas concert to Sarasota (November 29, 2022 at the Sarasota Opera House). The Sarasota Concert Association will also present the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine in a memorable performance (January 18, 2023 at the Venice Performing Arts Center), led by conductor Theodore Kuchar in a program which includes Brahms’ Violin Concerto, and Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Only subscribers to the Great Performers Series are able to purchase tickets to these two special events at this time.
“We are thrilled to announce our 2023 Great Performers Series,” commented Sarasota Concert Association Executive Director Linda Moxley. “Among the series highlights, we are delighted to welcome the world-renowned Chicago Symphony back to Sarasota, led by Riccardo Muti in his farewell season as music director.” She continued, “We are also delighted to announce two special additions to the season – the renowned men’s chorus, Chanticleer, as well as a concert featuring the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine.”
