Sarasota Arts Organizations Showcase Their Talents Across the Globe this Summer

Sarasota’s arts organizations are taking their talents across the world this summer. The Florida west coast community is known as Florida’s Cultural Coast, due to its vibrant, eclectic and immensely talented arts scene. Several Sarasota arts organizations including The Sarasota Ballet, Choral Artists of Sarasota and Circus Arts Sarasota are taking their performances on the road this summer to showcase their art form to audiences in other parts of the globe. From France to England to Italy, the world is recognizing the unique talent found in Sarasota. International arts fans can enjoy performances from some of Sarasota’s top arts companies. Here is how the Sarasota arts community is hitting the road this summer:

The Sarasota Ballet Performs at The Royal Ballet in London
The Sarasota Ballet has grown over the past decade into one of America’s leading ballet companies, garnering acclaim for its extensive repertory of renowned choreographer Frederick Ashton’s works. For that reason, the ballet was invited to perform this June 4 – 22 alongside The Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House in London, where Ashton was founding choreographer. The company performed a selection of works from Ashton June 4- 9 and then joined The Royal Ballet June 7 – 22 performing a section of a mixed program of Ashton’s works.

Choral Artists of Sarasota Performs in Normandy, France for 80th Commemoration of D-Day
Choral Artists of Sarasota were selected to perform at the 80th Commemoration of D-Day in Normandy, June 6 & 7. Forty Choral Artists singers traveled to France to perform in the official commemoration ceremonies at the Normandy and Brittany American Cemeteries. The Chorus performed in the town square of Sainte-Mère-Église to celebrate the first village liberated on D-Day. Following performances in Normandy, the group traveled to Paris where Choral Artists of Sarasota will present a concert at La Madeleine church.

Circus Arts Conservatory to Present “SummerSaults in the Berkshires”
Sarasota-based arts organization Circus Arts Conservatory (CAC), whose mission it is to celebrate and advance the extraordinary legacy and heritage of the circus, is showcasing its fierce determination to share the joy and wonder of the circus arts by taking its show on the road this summer. It will present “SummerSaults in the Berkshires,” an action-packed, one-hour, family-friendly circus show that will feature an international cast of world-class circus artists. The show will run from Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 28, with 17 performances at The Duffin Theater (197 East Street) in Lenox, Mass.

Sarasota Chalk Festival Founder to Judge the 50th Anniversary of the Prestigious I Madonnari 24-hour Chalk Drawing Competition in Italy
Sarasota Chalk Festival founder, Denise Kowal, will be heading to Grazie di Curtatone, Italy, to join as a judge for the 50th anniversary of the I Madonnari 24-hour competition, taking place August 15-16. Since 1973, artists from around the world have convened in the expansive square of the Sanctuary to create chalk drawings depicting sacred images honoring the Virgin Mary on the asphalt. This year, artists will be creating images based on “The Divine Comedy.”
