Safe Children Coalition Celebrates National Adoption Day

By  |

November 9, 2020 – Sarasota

First established in November 1995, National Adoption Month is meant to honor adoptive families, celebrate organizations dedicated to helping children find permanent homes, and advocate for the need for more adoptive families. On a select day every November, the Safe Children Coalition (SCC) in collaboration with Sarasota, Manatee and Desoto County Judicial Courts arrange to celebrate National Adoption Day where numerous families come together to finalize their adoptions and to celebrate. This tradition has historically filled courtrooms for an entire day with a full docket of successful adoption after adoption. The families and case managers have been able to celebrate together during this special occasion.

This year has presented a new challenge for this momentous day due to COVID-19. While we weren’t able to gather in person with these families to celebrate, we were able to join them on Friday November 6th via Zoom to watch 12 children find their forever homes.

Dave Luebcke, Senior Director of Programs for SCC stated, “I’d like to extend a warm congratulations to all the families that participated in National Adoption Day. Adoption is not the call to have the perfect, rosy family. It is the call to give love, mercy, and patience.” When asked about the children in these adoption cases, Amy Chamberlain, Adoptions Manager at SCC said, “These kids teach us more in their short time about family, life and love than we ever thought we could understand. I could not be happier for them that they have found their forever families and we thank them for allowing us to celebrate with them.”
