Remembering Richard Schineller
September 2023—As many may know, we recently lost a community notable, Richard Schineller. While many mourn this passing, none will feel the blow more than Richard’s three kids, Erin, Richard, and Amy. We’ve asked them to share a few thoughts in tribute to their father.
Writing this as I wrap up my first professional panel feels incredibly apropos, as my Dad was my biggest supporter in all endeavors. He was not just a father, friend, and coworker, but he was a dreamer. Our Dad was like Icarus, always with great plans that curated possible doubts from others, but where Icarus fell Dad kept flying. His projects were an amalgamation of innovation and passion, and often brought in multiple members of the community (and millions of impressions). His legacy of love and support lives on in my siblings and I, as well as each person he crossed paths with. — Erin Schineller Ault
Dad had a way of connecting people and bringing out the best in them. His charisma, ingenuity and his passion for his family, friends and community is something we will all miss. He always worked towards improving the lives of those around him, no matter how small the matter, from something as small as taking in a new dress shirt to make it fit better on me, to producing full music videos for environmental conservation movements. Our father is one we always have, and will continue to look up to, and although he isn’t physically here with us anymore, his lessons will live on and guide us for the rest of our lives. — Richard Schineller III
He was the visionary any child, friend, family, and coworker dreamed of. When you think of Rich Schineller, there is never one story that accumulates to all the selcouth things he endeavored upon. Always the man behind the camera, but a main character to us all. Without Rich, there is a lacuna not only in the city of Sarasota, but in the hearts of all those he loved, and those who loved him. His light, love and spirit are my raison d’être. I will never seek a Nepenthe for Rich Schineller, just hope to see the world through his elysian eyes. — Amy Schineller
