The Ralph S. French Charitable Foundation has awarded the State College of Florida Foundation (SCFF) a $10,000 grant to support the Music Instrument Depot at the new Studio for the Performing Arts at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). The grant will be matched by the SCFF board of directors for a total contribution of $20,000.
Scheduled to open in 2020, the Studio is expected to play a major role in serving the growth of music, art and theatre programs in the region. The Music Instrument Depot will be a climate-controlled, secure environment for at least 100 high-quality musical instruments used by the SCF Symphonic Band, SCF Bradenton Symphony Orchestra, the Big Band, the Jazz Combo, the Percussion Ensemble, Musical Theater Pit Orchestra, and other community and college groups. All the instruments are available for student use free of charge.
The Ralph S. French Charitable Foundation has donated $80,000 to the Foundation since 2016, including a $20,000 donation for the Studio for the Performing Arts’ student practice rooms in 2018. The Music program at SCF annually serves more than 500 general education students, including 80 music majors.
