Publix Grants $135,000 to All Faiths Food Bank
October 22, 2021 – Sarasota
Showcasing its commitment to alleviating hunger, and as part of a major charitable effort during Hunger Action Month in September, Publix Super Markets Charities recently granted $135,000 to All Faiths Food Bank. These funds will support All Faiths’ Mobile Pantry Program, which provides fresh produce, meat and groceries at nearly 740 distributions – including those that are open to the public as well as those held at restricted sites (such as schools or partner agencies) – throughout the community each month.
Through the Mobile Pantry Program – which includes Mobile Farm Markets – truckloads of food are delivered and distributed to community members in areas of high need to help supplement their nutritional resources. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, All Faiths pivoted to a drive-through model for its Mobile Pantry Program distributions, with food in pre-packaged boxes as well as individually wrapped items, all of which are placed directly in the trunks of cars.
This grant brought the total financial donations from Publix Super Markets Charities to All Faiths Food Bank to $929,000 since its first gift in 1997. This amount does not include significant donations of food from Publix Super Markets to the food bank.
“It is mind-boggling the level of support we have enjoyed from Publix Super Markets Charities since our very first gift 24 years ago,” said Sandra Frank, CEO of All Faiths Food Bank. “We are so grateful not only for the financial support and the food they provide but also Publix’s commitment to helping our neighbors in need. We are proud they have chosen to invest in our work and our community.”
Throughout the month of September – which is known as “Hunger Action Month” – Publix Super Markets Charities donated $5.5 million to 300 Feeding America member food banks and other nonprofit organizations as part of its ongoing support to alleviate hunger and help local communities within Publix’s operating area.
