Pines of Sarasota Foundation has received a $30,000 grant from the James Franklin
Warnell & Dorothy J. Warnell Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The grant is for Pines Foundation’s Mission Fund, which supports skilled nursing residents who have outlived their financial resources and are dependent on Medicaid and philanthropic support for their healthcare.

On any given day, more than 50% of Pines’ residents are Medicaid-reliant. Philanthropic support for The Mission Fund makes up the difference between Medicaid payments and the actual cost of care, ensuring Pines’ 74-year commitment to seniors, no matter their financial position, can continue for years to come.

Pines of Sarasota Foundation President, Ruth Frazier said, “We are so grateful to the Community
Foundation of Sarasota County for recognizing how important Pines of Sarasota is to so many seniors and their loved ones. Their generosity will help ensure Pines will be here to provide comfort and care to the most vulnerable of our residents when they need us the most.”
Pines of Sarasota is a unique community resource that provides skilled nursing care to approximately 500 seniors annually. Pines is one of the largest providers in Southwest Florida for our community’s seniors who are reliant on Medicaid for their healthcare, and cares for a large number of seniors with dementia in its skilled secure memory care unit, which includes a one-of-a-kind park-like and climate controlled atrium activity area.
