Nikki McCain Joins Caldwell Trust Company as Trust Officer

Caldwell Trust Company has hired Nikki McCain, J.D., LL.M., as a trust officer. Based in Caldwell’s Venice headquarters, McCain brings a deep knowledge of tax law, estate planning, and business transactions. She formerly owned and operated two law firms, one in Venice and another in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to that, while concurrently running the Nashville firm, she was the director/lecturer of University of South Dakota School of Law’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC), where she instructed students on representing clients before the IRS and also taught the bar exam-tested course of Secured Transactions.

McCain received her LL.M. in taxation from the University of Denver and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Florida Coastal School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Florida, South Dakota, and Tennessee, and is registered to practice before the United States Tax Court and the District Court of North Dakota. 

She chairs the Judicial Committee of the Collection Due Process (CDP) Summit Initiative of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Taxation. In addition, McCain is featured as a chapter co-author in the 8th Edition of the ABA Section of Taxation’s best-selling book, Effectively Representing Your Client Before the IRS, focusing on CDP hearings. She has also authored five other publications on tax law.

McCain has provided pro bono services to several nonprofit organizations. She is currently on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County, where she also chairs the governance committee. Before relocating to Venice, she served on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls and Special Olympics of Tennessee’s Young Professionals.
