New Fundraising Initiative from Southeastern Guide Dogs Launches

By  |

Every guide and service dog begins life as an adorable puppy. Now, for a small amount—as little as $19 per dog, per month—an individual can sponsor a puppy and follow their exciting two-year journey as they grow up to transform the life of someone who needs them. After 24 months of training, a puppy may graduate as a guide dog for someone with vision loss; a service dog for a veteran with a disability; or a skilled companion dog for a child with significant challenges.

The Sponsor a Puppy program was created as a fun, unique and rewarding way to support the extraordinary partnerships forged between our working dogs and the people who need them. Southeastern Guide Dogs receives no government funding and relies upon donations to deliver the gifts of freedom, dignity and hope—offering dogs to the recipients at no cost. We breed, raise and train elite working dogs and follow up with their handlers—our alumni—for the life of the team.

A donor can choose to sponsor a puppy (or multiple puppies) for themselves or as a gift for another puppy lover, such as a grandchild or a friend. After selecting “their” puppy, sponsors follow the path from puppy preschool to kindergarten; to life with a volunteer puppy raiser; classes with a certified trainer in Canine University; and ultimately, to the unique pairing with a handler. Regular Pupdates will provide engaging progress reports and photos of dogs-in-training as each one matures and learns.
