September 24, 2021 – Sarasota

New College of Florida is sponsoring a select number of nonprofit organizations and government agencies to fund projects for the Sarasota-Manatee Arts & Humanities (SMAH) Internship Program.

These internships, funded by New College through an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant and additional community donors, will provide students with high-quality, experiential learning opportunities.

“This program will meet the goals of the Mellon Foundation grant by supporting community-driven projects, and strengthening community outreach and engagement,” said Madeline Tympanick, the assistant director of New College’s Center for Career Engagement and Opportunity (CEO). “It will also allow for increased student access to paid internships and bolster local resources.”

In order to offer exceptional learning opportunities to students, the CEO invites organizations to submit internship proposals for the Spring 2022 term (February to mid-May). Proposals will be selected based on the quality of the experiential learning opportunity and its alignment with the goals of the Mellon Foundation grant.

Proposed internships can include, but are not limited to, projects focused on ancient and modern languages, culture, history, anthropology, archeology, philosophy and ethics, English literature, education, religion, creative writing, media and journalism, nonprofit work, public relations, fine art, art history, arts management, and visual and performing arts (such as music, dance and theatre).

Proposals should be submitted by 8 a.m. Mon. Oct. 11 for Spring 2022 internships (February to mid-May). Submit proposals here: tinyurl.com/SMAHInternProposal.
