Four specific galleries owned and operated by prominent women stand out amongst the crowd, each offering unique styles perfect for the art enthusiast looking for variety: MARA Art Studio + Gallery, Define Art Gallery and Studio, Burns Gallery on Palm, and Meg Krakowiak Art Gallery & Studio. 

Established in 2020 by visionary Puerto Rican artist and curator Mara Torres González, MARA Art Studio + Gallery is a dynamic hub of contemporary fine art. Recently relocated from Sarasota’s Rosemary District to Palm Avenue, this gallery has quickly become a favorite for art enthusiasts, standing as a testament to the fusion of artistic innovation and cultural diversity.

“Our mission is to assist clients in developing collections that resonate on a deeply personal level, transcending the confines of mere decor to become a narrative of individual expression,” said Mara. “What sets us apart is our commitment to exclusivity, as each professional artist is handpicked, offering visitors a unique and carefully selected array of contemporary masterpieces.” 

Define Art Gallery and Studio first opened on Upper Main Street in 2021 and moved to Palm Avenue in October 2023. The gallery showcases exceptional fine art with vibrant colors, rich textures, and compelling narratives. A new exhibition curated monthly by artist and owner Deena King; each curation emphasizes that art is not just a luxury but an essential element of everyday life.

Burns Gallery on Palm is an intimate contemporary art gallery.  Nikki Sedacca, the owner, started her jewelry design studio and art gallery 38 years ago on Palm Avenue. Nikki and her team provide clients with unique curated art and furnishings. Her boutique interiors division plans and installs projects for the most luxurious homes and condos with a fresh and artistic approach. 

Burns Gallery on Palm showcases a diverse array of talented fine artists, including mixed media, abstract, glass artists, as well as jewelry designers. This unique space constantly evolves, highlighting regional and national talent through monthly new exhibitions. The passionate team at the gallery is dedicated to helping visitors discover pieces they will enjoy for years to come.

For the past seven years, Meg Krakowiak Art Gallery & Studio has maintained a strong presence on Palm Avenue. Her studio is prominently situated at the front, visible from the street, so that passersby can observe Meg painting and engage with the process of creating original art.

Meg Krakowiak is a renowned contemporary artist acclaimed for her vibrant use of color. Working in acrylics with an impressionist’s eye, she creates various sized landscapes, seascapes, and floral scenes in eye-catching and intriguing hues.

“My goal is to create happy, colorful original art that will help people see the colors around them and welcome the beauty of original art into their homes. When starting a painting I think about the concept and the composition, but for me the inspiration almost always comes from the colors. I observe nature. I watch the colors as the light and wind change.” explained Meg.
