Hermione Gilpin will lead Selby Gardens’ comprehensive development program including strategic direction for the Gardens’ annual, planned, major, and capital campaigns including the Master Plan, and oversight of grant-writing efforts and sponsorship activities.

Gilpin brings nearly a decade of experience in institutional advancement and is committed to working with donors, nonprofit partners, and community leaders to further Selby Gardens’ mission. Gilpin recently served as a Philanthropic Advisor at the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation, she advocated for the importance of donor engagement in arts and culture at Asolo Repertory Theatre, where she strengthened the theatre’s endowment and annual fundraising efforts, and La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, where she deepened community relationships and managed the campaign feasibility study.
Gilpin holds a Bachelor degree from Rice University in Houston where she studied Visual and Dramatic Arts with an emphasis in theatre arts. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Southwest Florida Chapter, Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council and a graduate of the Gulf Coast Leadership Institute, Class of 2015.
Selby Gardens has marked significant growth in the last several years with double-digit percentage increases in admission, membership, donations and event and retail revenue. As the only botanical garden in the world dedicated to the study of epiphytes, or air plants such as orchids, bromeliads, gesneriads and ferns, the research institution connects more than 200,000 visitors a year with nature to achieve its mission of furthering an understanding and appreciation of plants.
