Local Public Relations Association Presents Virtual “State of the Media” Event

By  |

October 14, 2020 – Sarasota

The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) is hosting “State of the Media,” during the week of October 19-23. Each day will feature a different media representative discussing the various challenges and opportunities facing the media industry during a mid-day virtual conversation. PR and communications professionals, nonprofit groups and other interested individuals will benefit from the insights and expert advice on how to maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the media in today’s ever-changing landscape.

“This year, we’ve had no choice but to transform our approach to professional development, as our friends in the media have had to adjust their approach to journalism,” says Eleni Kouvatsos, president of CWC-FPRA. “This five-day virtual series will offer our members and community a chance to hear from talented media members about the challenges facing the industry today, including the effects of a global pandemic, a suffering economy and an incredibly divisive political environment.”

These 30-45 minute conversations will be led by a CWC-FPRA member and begin promptly at noon each day. Confirmed media participating in this year’s event include:  Nikki Clark, promotions director at iHeartMedia Sarasota; Matt Sauer, general manager, Sarasota Herald-Tribune; and Susan Burns, editor in chief, Sarasota Magazine. Additional media representatives will be added to the schedule and announced in the coming days.

Tickets for the program are $25/FPRA members, $35/guests; cost includes all five days and access to the recordings after the event. To register, visit cwcfpra.com/events. This event is sponsored by Next-Mark.

The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association meets monthly for professional development luncheons and networking. Visit www.cwcfpra.com for more information.
