The Central West Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (CWC-FPRA) welcomes author and business coach Holly Caplan, as guest speaker for their March professional development event. It takes place on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, 1012 N. Orange Avenue, Sarasota from 3:30 p.m. – 5p.m. Cost is $25 for CWC-FPRA members and $35 for the public, includes appetizers and cash bar on the roof following the event. What makes us feel fear? Change, going into the unknown, not being in control of something. Why are we afraid? Could be a bad work experience, past relationship, upbringing…. all these things create self-doubt. Caplan hopes to transform that fear into finding freedom. Freedom from anxiety, freedom from what other people may think, and all the other things that just bog us down in this highly stressful world of social media, ongoing advertising at every turning point, cameras watching our every move and patience levels at their lowest.
A recent article in the New York Observer recently claimed that “fear is the new normal.” [1] Fear influences the choices we make. Yet making decisions motivated by fear is flawed, if not dangerous; it will never lead to the healthy, fulfilling lives we crave. Originally from New Orleans, Caplan currently lives in Dallas and her Southern charm delights all who hear her.
