Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast is proud to welcome Kamala Martinez as its new CEO, bringing her passion for empowering youth and her extensive experience in both the corporate and non-profit sectors to the organization. Kamala steps into this leadership role with a vision of expanding the impact of BBBS, continuing the organization’s legacy of providing one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of young people across the region.
With over 20 years of experience in corporate development roles and a proven track record in community relations, Kamala’s career has been shaped by a deep commitment to helping others. Her journey into the nonprofit world began when she was tasked with managing corporate foundations and community outreach globally. From that moment, she knew her calling was to make a difference in the lives of youth. She has since worked on numerous initiatives that aim to support young people, from educational programs to mental health advocacy, all of which have made a lasting impact.
Kamala’s personal experiences have also fueled her dedication to this work. She credits her grandmother as a key figure in her life, instilling in her the belief in the power of education and the confidence to pursue her dreams. She also recognizes the importance of strong mentorship, something she is eager to foster in her new role. Now, along with the dedicated staff, Kamala is ready to use her leadership skills to guide Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast toward even greater achievements, ensuring that every “Little” in the program has the support, encouragement, and resources needed to succeed.
“We just want our littles to be successful in life!” Kamala says.
As Kamala Martinez steps into this role, she is eager to build on the organization’s success, striving to provide pathways for youth that lead to fulfilling futures, whether that be through higher education, technical training, or other life opportunities.
