“Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder and impacts 1 in 26 people with over 400,000 Floridians diagnosed with seizures,” noted Andria Bilan, CEO of JoshProvides. “Over the past few years, JoshProvides has experienced significant growth and needed to increase its capacity to respond to inquiries, process applications and manage the client assistance grant awards.”
In 2022, JoshProvides received 1,126 inquiries for assistance compared to 660 in 2021 and 406 in 2020. Client assistance grant awards totaled 120 in 2020; increased to 218 in 2021 and in 2022, a total of 275 grants were awarded for medical services, transportation to medical appointments, seizure alert devices and seizure response dogs. And participation in the JoshProvides Epilepsy Support Group has grown from 36 in 2021 to 67 in 2022.
JoshProvides applied and received a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County under its Grants Program to support organizations and programs that provide access to education, health care, or basic human needs for people who face systemic barriers in our community. Funding was provided by the Arthur T. Esslinger Memorial Fund and the James Franklin Warnell & Dorothy J. Warnell Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the client service programs of JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation.
