JoshProvides Receives Grant Award from Lakewood Ranch Community Fund

JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation recently received a $2,500 grant awarded from the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation to support families who have been diagnosed with epilepsy and need assistance with the cost of anti-seizure medication and transportation assistance to medical appointments and/or work due to active seizures.

Individuals diagnosed with seizures are considered high-risk immune-compromised and the anti-seizure medication increases their risk factors.  COVID has impacted the cost of medication and families find themselves making difficult choices due to their financial situation.  In addition, the State of Florida prohibits individuals from operating a vehicle until they are six-months seizure free, with no easy way to get to medical appointments or work.

“This grant from the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation allows JoshProvides to directly assist local families with two critical needs: medication and transportation. We are grateful for this support for families who have few options available to them, especially during November which is designated as Epilepsy Awareness Month,” stated Andria Bilan, CEO, JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation.

JoshProvides assists children, families and individuals with seizure detection & alert devices, transportation, medical services, and community education & awareness.  In addition, JoshProvides sponsors an Epilepsy Support Group meeting twice a month to keep families and individuals connected to community and share local resources.
