November 2, 2020 – Sarasota

Impact100 SRQ awarded $342,000 in transformational, high impact grants today to three area-based nonprofits committed to improving the community. The group shared all five of their finalist’s initiative videos before announcing the three 2020 grant recipients at Impact100 SRQ’s virtual annual meeting and grants award celebration last week. Members and the community were invited to hold small gatherings and watch parties to celebrate this momentous occasion in a safe, appropriate way. Each of the three nonprofits will receive a $114,000 grant to support the following “community-changing” programs:

Education: SKY Family YMCA. Project: Nurturing the Potential of Every Child.

Family: Children’s Cancer Center. Project: Sarasota/Manatee Program expansion for Children Battling Cancer.

Health & Wellness: Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program. Project: Fresh Food for ALL.

The voting for the award recipients took place last week when members were invited to watch five-minute presentations from each of the five finalists. After watching the presentations and reading the executive summaries, members then cast their vote via electronic ballot. The votes were sent to Miles & Thirion CPA firm for tallying and were announced on Sunday via broadcast video.

“Through our collective giving, Impact100 SRQ members have the power to transform our community together, one impactful grant at a time,” said Jane Watt, Impact 100 SRQ chapter president. “This is our second giving year, and it has been especially humbling to award three $114,000 grants to deserving nonprofits that need us now more than ever.”

About Impact100 SRQ: Impact 100 SRQ is a 501(C) 3 not-for-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to empower women to collectively give transformational grants to nonprofits in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Women of all backgrounds are invited to unite in awarding life-changing grants to worthy nonprofits. By assembling at least 100 women who donate $1,000 each, Impact100 SRQ awards grants in minimum increments of $100,000 each. Nonprofits in Sarasota and Manatee counties are invited to apply for the grants. Member volunteers review the grant applications and vet the nonprofits, and each member casts her vote for the grant recipients. Impact100 SRQ has granted close to $600,000 to local nonprofits in just two years.

Impact100 SRQ now begins its formal membership drive for the 2021 giving year. The organization is running a “KISS” (Keep Impact Self Sustaining) campaign to increase membership renewals and attract new members. The campaign runs through November 19 and offers a $100 matching contribution for each member who joins or renews with an additional $100 donation for operational costs.

Impact100 SRQ has no paid employees or staff, so 100 percent of each member’s annual contribution of $1,000 is awarded to nonprofit organizations in grants of $100,000 or more. Operational costs are kept to a minimum and funded voluntarily by members and corporate supporters.
