Impact 100 SRQ Partners with Mayors’ Feed the Hungry and Omega PSI PHI Fraternity for Food Drive at Nathan Benderson Park
June 14, 2021 – Sarasota
The Mayors’ Feed the Hungry Program is proud to announce a partnership with Impact100 SRQ and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity to host a food drive at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday June 19, 2021. The event will be held in the parking lot with drive-through and drop-off available from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to donate both perishable and nonperishable food items during that time.
Jane Gill Watt, President of Impact100 SRQ commented: “Providing a solution for food insecurity in our community is one of the impacts of Impact. Please join us as we continue positive change one Grant at a time.”
Through a generous grant, Impact100 SRQ funded the cost of a refrigerated truck that enables Mayors’ Feed the Hungry to collect perishable items which otherwise would not be available to food pantries and would inevitably be thrown away. As a result, food pantries will receive a much greater variety of fresh food, including milk, vegetables, and meats for the families they serve.
Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Pi Beta Beta Chapter, Bradenton/Sarasota, will take the lead in organizing the food drive event at Benderson Park.
The following items are needed:
Meat, cheese, fruit, vegetables, eggs, milk, drinks, canned goods, baby food, and fresh, frozen and or non-perishable items. We are also collecting pet food for the National PTSD Association.
