Icard Merrill is entering a new chapter in their nearly 70-year history. At the helm of this change is newly announced President, Telese Zuberer, who will be the first female to hold the position in the firm’s 70-year history. “We are at a point of natural evolution in our firm. We are making changes to be more inclusive, dynamic, and innovative to better serve our employees and our clients,” says Telese. 

The changes being made are an intentional departure from stereotypical norms of the legal industry; a field that has historically been dominated by males and has a reputation for long and grueling work schedules. Recent changes include expanding flexible work schedules by utilizing remote opportunities and technology, as well as greater support of younger attorneys through professional development trainings and a redeveloped summer internship program. “My goal is to first understand what motivates and matters to our employees, staff and attorneys, so that we can then create an environment that synergizes office culture and client satisfaction,” says Telese.

Telese’s natural strength in problem-solving works in step with her teamwork mentality and devotion to integrity. “Whether it’s working with clients or team members in our organization, I absolutely love what I do. As my experience increases, so does my motivation and drive, and I’m very excited about the future that we are building.”

Among some of the most experienced attorneys at Icard Merrill is Jaime Wallace who has been Head of the Family Law Department since 2006 and was the first woman to make partner at the firm. Originally graduating with a psychology degree, Jaime was inspired to pursue law after working at the Sarasota County courthouse. Her high standard of professionalism, work ethic, and strong commitment to her clients and teammates make her a role model for younger attorneys at the firm. For Jaime, Icard Merrill has always been a standout firm. “When I first joined the team in the mid 1980’s there was an acceptance of personalities that was unique for the legal field – Icard Merrill nurtured both individual differences and a strong sense of team comradery.”

It’s this organizational culture that fuels Real Estate Attorney and Icard Merrill Shareholder Alyssa Nohren’s love for her job. “The freedom and flexibility that I’ve had in this role has allowed me to successfully serve my clients while also balancing my family.” Alyssa’s strength in creating a personalized experience for her clients, coupled with her 15 years with the firm, has resulted in longstanding relationships and a strong network of referrals to recommend to clients. “You truly can create your own destiny and success at Icard Merrill,” says Alyssa. 

Lindsey Meshberger’s professional journey is a further testament to that. Lindsey started working for Icard Merrill as an intern while in law school and is now a shareholder in the Family Law Department. Lindsey loves the constant change in her work; “while the law remains the same, the clients’ stories are all different.” Sharing her colleagues’ commitment to good communication, honesty, and dependability, Lindsey’s guiding principle is putting the best interest of the families and children that she works with first.
