Thanks to the generosity of Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, Girls Inc. received a $610,630 grant to continue to build and expand a network of strength and resiliency for girls and families through their Family Strengthening Program. The program eliminates barriers and offers a continuum of services designed to address the social-emotional health of girls while strengthening a family’s communication through awareness, parenting tools, behavioral interventions, and referrals to community resources.

Girls Inc. supports all families, by offering affordable and accessible after school and summer programming on a sliding scale. Girls Inc. not only focuses on serving the “Whole Girl,” but also serves the “Whole Family.”  Girls Inc. programs allow working families to have a safe and secure environment for their children to learn, grow, and thrive. Parents have the opportunity to continue working while their daughter is in a safe space.

To meet the increasing mental health needs in the community, Girls Inc. offers therapeutic support services to every girl and family enrolled in programs through the Family Strengthening Program. The combined approach of regularly scheduled researched based Girls Inc. programming and the Family Strengthening Program ensures that all girls have a comprehensive support system with access to academic support and emotional support services.

President & CEO Angie Stringer says, “We are so thankful for the continued generosity of Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation. Their support of our mission helps us prepare girls to grow into healthy, educated, and independent young adults while strengthening a family’s communication with valuable tools and resources.

“We know that one of the longest-lasting impacts of the COVID pandemic has been on the mental and emotional well-being of most Americans,” said Teri A Hansen, president and CEO of Barancik Foundation. “This grant will allow Girls Inc. to help their young clients by boosting the capability of their families to cope with the emotional and mental stresses of the times with awareness and new skills.”
