Fresh Friday’s March Event is a Celebration of Neighbors and Newcomers

February 15, 2023 – Sarasota

The month of March kicks off with a tropical-themed powwow on State Street as the Downtown Improvement District presents Neighbors and Newcomers.

Headlined by Sarasota’s very own Alan Grant Band, the evening’s live music will feature an electrifying array of rock and roll classics. Spearheaded by lead guitarist and vocalist Alan Grant, the band has garnered acclaim in the local community for its upbeat, groove-driven style and ability to cover a wide range of rock, blues, and country hits. Whether he is appearing in a large concert venue or a more intimate, stripped-back setting, Alan Grant always sets the tone for a great night.

“The Alan Grant Band’s music will set the stage perfectly for a night that will celebrate all the best the downtown Sarasota community has to offer,” says Next-Mark president Joseph Grano, the event organizer and promoter. Encouraged attire includes Hawaiian shirts, lightweight fabrics like cotton and linen, maxi or short dresses, and sandals. Most importantly, guests are encouraged to wear something that represents their most relaxed and carefree self.

But the evening is far more than your typical rock concert in breezy vacation attire. The event will see the return of the popular cornhole games and Jumbo Jenga to go along with the debut of a Giant Four-in-a-Row game set. With all three of these games, guests can partner up and take on a willing challenger in a 2v2 showdown. “The idea behind this whole Fresh Friday series is to allow guests the space to unwind and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of downtown Sarasota,” says Grano, “so the introduction of these team-based games adds to the enjoyment of it all.”

In addition, the block party will feature signature giveaways, and food/beverage offerings from downtown favorites, including Evie’s on Main Street, Brick’s Smoked Meats, State Street Eating House + Cocktails, and Art Ovation Hotel. The State Street parking garage will remain accessible from Orange Avenue and Ringling Boulevard. In addition, ample on-street parking is available in the surrounding area.
