North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton, FL ranked #6 in the country as a “well-being community.”
A recent study has found that a trip to Sarasota might boost your well-being just as much as a trip to your doctor would.
Based on Gallup and Sharecare’s State of American Well-Being: 2016 Community Well-Being Rankings report, the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida region has ranked #6 in the country as a “well-being community.” The home to a majority elderly population, vast cultural amenities, and the #1 beach in the country boasts a Well-Being Index score of 65.2, closely tailing Charlottesville, Virginia (65.3), Honolulu, Hawaii (65.4), and the chart-topper, Naples-Immokalee-Marco Island, Florida, with an index of 66.3.
Placing at #1 in financials, #14 in purpose, #4 in social, #12 in community, and #14 in physical rank, the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton areas showcase some of the finest features a community could hope to offer.
The categories are defined as the following;
Purpose: happiness and motivation for daily activities
Social: healthy, supportive relationships and sparks of passion for others
Community: pride and enthusiasm for where one lives, as well as the express feeling of security at home
Physical: one’s physical health, but also their presence in the community.
The Naples-Immokalee-Marco Island, Florida sector ranks as #3 in purpose, #3 in social, #11 in financial, #1 in community, and #3 in physical. The area has topped the list for two years.
The index scores were generated by results polled from 354,473 interviews via phone from January 2, 2015 to December 30, 2016. The score projects to an approximate 95% of the United States population of eighteen and older (adults). The polling was conducted by Gallup and Sharecare for their population health division, Healthways, the largest independent global providers of well-being improvement solutions.
