Florida Creativity Conference Returns to USF Sarasota-Manatee, Ringling College of Art and Design

The Florida Creativity Conference returns March 6-8 to the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus and Ringling College of Art and Design with a variety of enrichment- and creativity-themed workshops.

The annual symposium features professionals from the worlds of business, education, the arts, philanthropy and health and wellness who study creativity and how it transforms lives, personally and professionally.

“This is a truly a wonderful opportunity to expand your own creativity,” said event liaison Stephen Rushton, PhD, an associate professor of elementary education at USF Sarasota-Manatee. “The speakers are highly knowledgeable, excited to share their expertise and fully ready to engage your creativity.”

Among the speakers are Kim Macuare, PhD, co-director of Innovation Labs at The Dalí art museum in St. Petersburg; David Magellan Horth, senior fellow and director of innovation venturing and partnerships, commercialization and innovation at the Center for Creative Leadership; and Treva McKissic, an educator, poet and paper artist.

Also presenting are Csaba Osvath, a doctoral candidate at the University of South Florida, pursuing literacy studies with a focus on qualitative methods and arts-based inquiry; Tim Rumage, coordinator/developer of environmental studies at the Ringling College of Art and Design; and Tammera Race, associate librarian at the Jane Bancroft Cook Library, New College of Florida.

The workshops are divided into five broad categories to appeal to a cross-section of life goals and professions:

Creativity for Arts
Artists and artisans
Creativity for Business
Entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate executives
Creativity for Mind, Body & Spirit
Health and wellness practitioners, human potential, personal growth
Creativity for Community
Nonprofit executives, community builders, team organizers
Creativity for Education
Educators, coaches and facilitators
The workshops are set March 6-7 at USF Sarasota-Manatee, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. On March 8, the conference shifts to the Ringling College of Art and Design, 2700 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Admission runs from $180 (one day) to $400 (full conference), with discounts for educators and students. Breakfast and lunch are included.
