Empath Health Announces New Mission-Focused Senior Leaders

Empath Health is pleased to announce its senior-level chief positions serving the newly merged not-for-profit created by the merger of Empath Health and Stratum Health System. The full life care provider serving Tampa Bay and southwest Florida provides care and support for those with chronic and advanced illnesses and/or those dealing with grief.
Empath Health CEO Rafael J. This team will help shape Empath Health’s next chapter, so we can serve even more people during some of the most challenging times of their lives.”

Saida Bouhamid, MBA–Finance, ACHE, Chief Mission Financial Officer
Bouhamid and her team are working to unite the financial teams to ensure the continued financial strength and stability of the new organization. She was Stratum’s Chief Financial Officer for more than 10 years and Chief Operating Officer since 2015. Bouhamid has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Accounting, a Master of Business Administration and Finance from Webster University and is a Certified Advanced Hospice Executive. She serves on the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Finance and Public Policy committees.
Lynne Craver, Chief Mission Implementation Officer
Craver leads Empath Health’s Mission Service Organization that shares the organization’s expertise by partnering with other hospice and healthcare organizations to provide technology, financial and other services. Craver joined Empath Health in 2013 and served in roles that include overseeing the admissions and technology teams and the recent conversion to a new electronic medical records system. She has a Bachelor degree in Sociology, Anthropology and Journalism from North Central College.
Randal B. Currin, Jr., Chief Mission Strategy & Integration Officer
Currin and his team will oversee internal project management across all entities, change management as the two legacy organizations continue to come together, managed care initiatives, strategic planning and internal training. Most recently, he was President and CEO of Blake Medical Center, an HCA hospital, and has more than 13 years of healthcare administration experience. Currin received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami and is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Alan Weldy, JD, MBA, Chief Legal & Mission Excellence Officer
Weldy oversees legal affairs and the safety, quality, compliance and equitable access efforts of Empath Health. He joined Stratum Health System in 2020 and has 34 years of legal experience and more than a decade of healthcare compliance experience. Previously he was General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources and Compliance at Goshen Health in Indiana. Weldy earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his Master of Business Administration Degree from Indiana University.
Empath Health is currently conducting a nationwide search to round out this team with its Chief Mission Access Officer, who will be charged with ensuring everyone in our service areas has full and equitable access to our programs and services.
