Education Foundation of Sarasota County Elects New Board Members

The Education Foundation of Sarasota County (EFSC) announced the addition of five new members to the board of directors that include Jennifer Infanti, Lucie Lapovsky, and Gregory J. Matthews who are the new community members elected to serve three-year terms.

Along with the three year members, student representatives elected to one-year terms are Amber Baylis and Camila Fermin, who are both upcoming seniors at Riverview High School.

Infanti is a former middle school teacher and university admissions advisor who has volunteered in various capacities for the Education Foundation and numerous education-related local organizations. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education and a master’s in business management from the University of Florida. A mother of two young children in local public schools, Infanti is committed to the strategic, long-term goals of the Education Foundation and school district.

Lapovsky, who holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Maryland, is principal of Lapovsky Consulting. She has written numerous publications on pricing and tuition, is co-editor of books on higher education finance, and is a frequent speaker at major higher education conferences. Lapovsky served as president of Mercy College in the New York City area and as vice president for finance at Goucher College, Baltimore, Md. She is chair of the KnowledgeWorks Foundation board and serves on boards and committees of various local and international nonprofit organizations.

Matthews is the senior partner of Matthews Associates, LLC, a human resources and project management consulting firm in Lakewood Ranch. Before semi-retiring, he was a senior human resources executive and vice president for global human resources for American Express Company. Matthews graduated from Morgan State University and Coppin State University, both in Baltimore, Md., and the Harvard University Graduate School Business Executive Education Program. His volunteer service includes Ringling College of Art + Design and numerous cultural and community organizations.

Education Foundation board officers also were elected: Brock H. Leach, chair; Britt Riner, immediate past chair; Es Swihart, vice chair and teacher representative, RHS; Linda Jellison, treasurer; and Nancy R. Harris, secretary. Additional board members include Robert C. Blattberg, Jeremy H. Chambers, Kent Hayes, Lisl Liang, Anne Rollings, Kara Saunders, and Shane C. Swezey, teacher representative, Oak Park School.
