Ear Research Foundation Receives $5,000 Grant

By  |

Ear Research Foundation is proud to announce a $5,000 grant award from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s CCDHH Endowment Fund. These funds will be used to help support programs and services for the deaf and hard of hearing in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Ear Research Foundation recently embarked on their “Elevate!” campaign to raise awareness about the importance of hearing health and message the need for the community’s philanthropic involvement in giving the gift of hearing to others. Elevate! will grow the number of hearing screenings offered to preschoolers and other partnering agencies, as well as the provision of treatment and hearing devices for qualified community members who could not otherwise afford this type of needed medical help.

“Being able to provide early-intervention hearing screenings for children and reach thousands in our community is core to our purpose,” stated Dr. Herbert Silverstein, Founder and President of the Ear Research Foundation for 40 years. “One-out-of-ten children experiences hearing issues that in turn affects their learning and social development. We are there on the frontlines to detect issues and help children and families understand proper ear care and offer simple solutions.”

Melissa Lane, Executive Director reflected, “To me it’s very personal. As someone who experienced hearing issues as a child, it was key that mine was discovered and treated at a very early age. We greatly appreciate Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s funding and support in providing these essential services in our community.”

Anyone wishing to know more about volunteering or ways to Elevate! hearing health for everyone in our community is welcome to contact Melissa at the Ear Research Foundation at (941) 365-0367.
