SCF Awards the First President’s Faculty Excellence Award

By  |

The first President’s Faculty Excellence Award at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota has been bestowed to professor of natural sciences Anthony Gambino. The award recognizes excellence in the areas of teaching, advising, institutional service, professional development and scholarly activities. A permanent plaque to hold Gambino’s name and the name of all subsequent winners will also be displayed at each SCF campus.

The newly created annual award will be presented to a faculty member at Faculty Convocation each fall. Full-time faculty are eligible and can be nominated by any SCF faculty or staff with letters of support from a colleague, administrator or staff and the nominee’s dean.

“Dr. Gambino’s distinguished performance in the classroom and his contributions to SCF and our students over more than two decades of service are exemplary,” said SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld.

Gambino earned a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of South Florida after completing his undergraduate education at the State University of New York at Oneonta. He has taught at SCF since 1994 and has previously chaired the College’s natural sciences department.

SCF has more than 120 highly-qualified, full-time faculty members. More than one-third of the SCF faculty holds a doctoral degree.
