Detwiler’s Breaks Ground on New Distribution Center
May 13, 2024 | Sarasota
Detwiler’s Farm Market is continuing to grow. The family-owned and operated grocery chain today held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially kick off construction on a new warehouse and distribution center at Florida International Tradeport in Palmetto, FL. The roughly 133,000-square-foot facility will serve as the grocer’s main distribution center for its six brick-and-mortar stores between Palmetto and Venice.
“This is something we’ve been working on for a long time,” said Sam Detwiler, President of Detwiler’s Farm Market. “Our goal is to be able to bring our prices down lower and continue to stay true to our ‘Eat Fresh for Less’ motto.” Detwiler’s Farm Market Founder Henry Detwiler Sr. added, “We’re looking forward to all being under one roof in our new distribution center so we can serve our customers even better.”
Detwiler’s is a popular local grocery chain that has been serving the community for more than two decades. What started as a roadside produce stand in 2002 has turned into six major stores in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Detwiler’s has developed a strong regional fan base thanks to its fresh local produce, top-quality deli, bakery, seafood, meat, natural grocery and wellness departments. Detwiler’s opened its sixth location in December 2023, located at 3500 53rd Ave in Bradenton.
Spanning nearly one mile along I-75 at the busy U.S. 301 interchange (Exit 224), Florida International Tradeport is a 2 million-square-foot industrial park by Benderson Development. The property features 12 fully-leased buildings with an additonal eight buildings now underway and scheduled for delivery this year.
