Delesa Morris

President at Tidewell Foundation

While the Tidewell Foundation itself is only approximately four years old, Tidewell Hospice has been the only not-for-profit hospice organization in our region for over 40 years. In 2021, Tidewell Hospice united with Empath Health to establish the nation’s largest not-for-profit hospice health system.

Delesa Morris, born in Cincinnati, found herself in Florida for the first time while attending college. She assumed the role of President for the Tidewell Foundation in 2023, bringing with her over 25 years of expertise in philanthropy, community relations, strategic planning, communication, and non-profit management. She served as the Executive Director of Philanthropy for Cleveland Clinic Martin Health System, Assistant Vice President at Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Director of Development, College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati.

Delesa genuinely believes in the mission of Tidewell, and the career opportunity was aligned perfectly with her purpose of igniting joy through philanthropy. The Tidewell Foundation’s mission is to brighten the lives of the patients, families, and residents of communities by increasing awareness, funds, engagement, and advocacy to sustain and expand the exceptional programs and services offered.

“One relationship at a time, that’s how we grow and strengthen our community. Driven by compassion, the roles we play fill us with gratitude” said Delesa.

Beyond Hospice Care, the Foundation funds support to the community in many other ways, such as the Blue Butterfly Family Grief program, which provides evidence-based grief counseling for children, absolutely free. The Foundation’s Wishes Fund allows cherished wishes to come true during a patient’s final days, such as visiting the beach one last time.

In addition, the Tidewell Honors Veterans program has served almost 1500 veterans in the area. There are two Tidewell Treasures thrift stores that are staffed by almost 100 volunteers, where proceeds generated go directly to supported programs and causes.
