Dee Stephenson

Whether it’s making patients feel at ease in her ophthalmology practice or cooking an epicurean meal with friends, Dr. Dee Stephenson loves – and devotes herself fully to – all she does.  As the CEO of Stephenson Eye Associates in Venice, she and her staff have worked hard to be responsive and create a good patient experience.  

Since 1989, her practice has been located in a restored 1926 Italian Renaissance home which adds to the boutique office feeling.  In addition to general ophthalmology, Dee is a board certified ophthalmic surgeon with a special expertise in custom laser cataract surgery and Premium Intraocular lenses.

Having known she wanted to be a doctor since age five, Dee was attracted to ophthalmology because it offered the professional satisfaction of a field that continues advancing while allowing the flexibility of devoting time to family and travel.  Recognized recently by the prestigious Ophthalmic World Leaders, Dee received the 2020 Visionary Leader Award and was also selected as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Ophthalmology.  

Dee serves on many surgical advisory boards, participates in many clinical trials, and lectures internationally.  She is also a part of a group of female ophthalmologists who generously share their experiences with young women entering the field to help them build successful practices and create a balanced life.  She loves spending time with her mom, who lives locally, and her daughter and son-in-law.  

When not working, Dee is planning her next travel experience.  Dee is a strong supporter of the Venice Theatre and the Venice Lions Club, where she has been a member for 30 years. She   participates in the Lions free eye care clinics and is a provider for eye care and surgeries through their program.
