Wright Construction Group announced that the construction of the roundabout located at the intersection of US 41 and Fruitville Road in Sarasota is officially underway. Planned many years ago, the project will help improve connectivity and access, and enhance safety for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic flow and operations between downtown Sarasota and the Bayfront area. The project is estimated to be completed by late 2020.
The $7.4 million project will include the addition of temporary bypass roadways, new utilities and drainage system, new signalization, raised islands for pedestrian safety, high intensity activated crosswalk, LED streetlights and enhanced landscaping as well as a multi-use recreational trail on the west side of US 41.
“This project has been in the works for many years and it’s great that it finally came to fruition,” said Fred Edman, President of Wright Construction Group. “The needed improvements will have a great impact on the city and provide residents with enhanced safety and easier access to many of their favorite locations.”
During construction, access to businesses is being maintained and construction activities are taking place during daytime and nighttime hours.
