The Glasser/Schoenbaum Human Services Center held its fourth Collaboration Celebration in March, honoring Christina Russi, Community Fiscal Agent and Liaison for 211 and Season of Sharing. A presenting sponsorship from Community Foundation of Sarasota County underwrote the attendance of more than 50 staff from the Center’s Campus of Caring, to join donors and partners in the ballroom at Michael’s On East.
In remarks at the event, Community Foundation CEO Roxie Jerde reflected on the work at the Campus of Caring. “Glasser/Schoenbaum truly is a campus of collaboration,” she said. “The connectivity between its nonprofit network and all they serve on its campus underscore that by working together, we can push through complexity, offer solutions, and ensure everyone who calls our community home can thrive.”
The luncheon also featured three nonprofit honorees from Glasser/Schoenbaum’s five-acre campus: Literacy Council of Sarasota, Parenting Matters, and UnidosNow.
“This event is really about celebrating the hard work of collaboration. Working together takes an enormous amount of trust and good faith,” says Charlene Altenhain, Executive Director at Glasser/Schoenbaum. “Partnering with the Community Foundation has been key to paving the way for connection between nonprofits. It’s done by inviting staff to the table and supporting their service to those in need.”
A matching challenge gift of $7,500 from board member Renee Hamad and an anonymous donor was met and surpassed at the event. Supporters raised a net total of $68,000 for the Center, going directly to the programs and services that support 16 other human service nonprofits at Glasser/Schoenbaum.
