Children First proudly announces that Renee Sensenbrenner has been named the 2024 Parent of the Year by the Florida Head Start Association. This prestigious award recognizes a parent who exemplifies leadership, serves as a role model for their children, and makes a positive impact on their community.

As the mother of two children currently enrolled in the Early Head Start program, Renee has become a key advocate for children and families in Sarasota County. Recently re-elected for a third consecutive term as Chair of Children First’s parent-led Policy Council, she plays a critical role in shaping policies that ensure the success of the families the agency serves.

“Renee stands out as an exceptional leader among the many incredible parents I’ve had the privilege to work with during my tenure at Children First,” said Kathleen Sullivan, Vice President of Programs. “Renee understands what is best for her children and works tirelessly to ensure they receive it. Her honesty and responsiveness make her a role model for families everywhere.”

As the exclusive provider of Head Start and Early Head Start services for Sarasota County, Children First offers comprehensive services to hundreds of economically vulnerable children and their families at multiple sites across Sarasota, Venice, and North Port. These services include high-quality early childhood education, nutrition, emotional and behavioral support, and family-strengthening programs.
