September 29, 2021 – Sarasota

The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) was selected as the recipient of a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Client Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee. This funding will support CPC’s Children and Families Supervised Visitation Program (CFSVP), one of the nonprofit’s child abuse intervention programs.

“The goal of the Supervised Visitation Program is to provide a safe place for children to have regular and frequent contact with their parents when conflict or issues caused family separation,” said Tony Dempsey, the Immediate Past Chair of CPC’s Board of Directors. “Children who find themselves in this situation often have a negative memory of the last time they saw their parent. CFSVP ensures that the next memory the children have with their parent is a positive one – one free of anxiety and the stress of parents arguing or possible violence.”

286 individuals in Sarasota County utilized CFSVP in fiscal year 2020-2021. Referrals are accepted from the 12th Judicial Circuit Court and community agencies. Services are provided onsite in Venice and Sarasota.

The Bank of America Client Foundation has long supported this program and the Child Protection Center in their efforts to protect children. The Foundation, established in 1961, supports local charitable endeavors through arts, community, natural science, historic preservation, education, and human service organizations.

The Child Protection Center’s mission is the Prevention, Intervention, & Treatment of Child Abuse, as the organization envisions a community where children are safe from abuse and free to thrive. For over 40 years, CPC has been serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties in the State of Florida, and is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance.
