Charlie Chaplin’s masterpiece – the 1931 film City Lights- will be playing at Burns Court Cinemas this coming weekend for seven shows.
The event is co-produced by Sarasota Film Society and Filmmaker, Film teacher and Lecturer – Gus Mollasis who will also host all showings, providing an introduction and Question and Answer period to follow.
Screenings will take place Saturday March 2oth at 11:30am; 2pm; 4:30pm & 7pm and Sunday March 21st at 2pm; 4:30pm and 7pm.
Tickets are $15 dollars or two tickets for $25.00 and are available on line at The Sarasota Film Society website, www.Filmsociety.org and on the days of the screenings at the box office –with partial proceedings going to support the Sarasota Film Society.
Forever considered one the greatest and most beloved films of all time by critics and fans alike –including Orson Welles who named City Lights as “his favorite film of all time.” Consistently on AFI’s List of the greatest films of all time –the Little Tramp’s classic celebrates its 90th birthday on the big screen as it was intended. Patrons will be able to see the genius of Chaplin- who combined comedy and pathos like no other while witnessing one of the most memorable final scenes in the history of cinema.
