Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC) is proud to be recognized as a Champion for Youth by Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a prestigious honor awarded annually to Clubs that rank among the top 10% nationwide for their advocacy efforts on behalf of local youth.
This prestigious award celebrates Clubs that demonstrate exceptional advocacy efforts, including engaging with state, local, and federal officials, leveraging social media outreach, hosting Club tours for community leaders, driving media advocacy, and more.
The Club Advocacy Engagement Recognition Program, led by Boys & Girls Clubs of America, highlights the incredible work Clubs and Alliances do every day, emphasizing impact, creativity, and innovation. The program features three tiers—Advocate (top 50% of Clubs), Hero (next 40%), and Champion (top 10%)—awarded based on advocacy engagement. Clubs earn points for their efforts, which determine their tier and the corresponding incentives and recognition they receive.
“We are honored to receive the Champion for Youth Award, recognizing our commitment to advocacy and amplifying youth voices,” said Bill Sadlo, President/CEO. “This top-tier recognition highlights our dedication to ensuring every young person has the support and opportunities they need to succeed. It is a testament to the hard work of our team, community partners, supporters, and the dedicated efforts of our elected officials who play a key role in creating policies that foster brighter futures for the youth we serve.”
