Big Waters Land Trust is pleased to announce their second annual Community Art Show inviting local artists of all ages and experience levels to showcase their talent. This juried exhibition celebrates Florida’s natural landscapes through the creativity of the community, with a primary focus on paintings and drawings. All submissions must be Florida-centric and highlight the beauty of nature.
“Last year we asked our conservation community to share their paintings and drawings of local natural lands and they did not disappoint,” comments Christine P. Johnson, president of Big Waters Land Trust. “We are thrilled to once again provide a platform for artists to share their unique perspectives of Florida’s breathtaking land, water, and wildlife, and can’t wait to see the artwork this year brings.”
A distinguished panel of jurors will evaluate submissions and curate the final selection. This year’s jury includes Danica Konatar, a renowned illustrator whose evocative Florida landscapes capture the state’s unique beauty; Lauren Marshall, an acclaimed painter and illustrator recognized for her dynamic and expressive portrayals of the environment; and Tim Jaeger, an award-winning artist whose nature-inspired works offer a deep connection to Florida’s natural world.
Each artist may submit up to two pieces for consideration. Submissions will be divided by artist age when evaluated. Categories include Youth (12 and under), Teen (13-17), and Adult (18+). The submission window is April 1 through April 30, with a deadline of midnight on April 30. Selected works will be displayed at Bay Preserve from June through August 2025, with an opening reception on Wednesday, June 4, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Registration for this free event is required.
