A New Standard for Thoughtful Development in Sarasota
December 13, 2024 | Sarasota
En Pointe, a new residential project located on Golden Gate Point, is set to redefine luxury living in Sarasota through thoughtful design and responsible growth. This collaborative effort between ECHT-Architects and Nautilus Homes emphasizes quality over quantity while honoring the unique character of the neighborhood.
Leveraging the provisions of Sarasota’s Special Overlay Zoning District, ECHT-Architects crafted a modern design that allows for reduced setbacks while capping building heights. This strategic approach permits the construction of just four private residences, ensuring that the project enhances the community rather than overwhelming it.
The residences feature expansive balconies that invite residents to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets, fostering a welcoming atmosphere akin to a “front porch feeling.” This design element not only enhances individual living spaces but also promotes a sense of community among residents.
“Our client’s commitment to responsible development has been instrumental in shaping En Pointe,” said Kortnee Gonzalez of ECHT-Architects. “They prioritized creating a project that would provide lasting benefits to both future residents and the surrounding neighborhood.”
Community engagement was an integral part of the project’s development, as required by the provisions of Sarasota’s Special Overlay Zoning District. ECHT-Architects held workshops to ensure the design aligned with local needs and expectations. This collaborative process facilitated smoother approvals and helped garner strong community support. What makes En Pointe truly special is the synergy between design, development, and craftsmanship. Every element, from layout to material selection, has been thoughtfully considered to create intimate, serene, and luxurious living spaces. The project reflects a neomodern aesthetic that aligns with Sarasota’s evolving architectural landscape.
“The alternative standards gave us the latitude to design a building with residences that feel more like single family homes than condo units,” said Andrew Etter with ECHT-Architects. “The reduced setbacks allow for spacious balconies that reach out to touch the street and hold back the interior to celebrate outdoor living and entertaining throughout the day.”
The project is a benchmark for high-level collaboration that results in excellence, demonstrating how design, development, and construction can harmonize for a better Sarasota.
