SMHF Appoints Four New Members to its Board of Trustees

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members, Kevin Collins, John Groetelaars, Michael Klein and Jackie Tilton.
“We are honored to have these accomplished leaders join the board of our rapidly expanding organization,” said newly elected board chair, Robert L. Wood. “Our mission is to help ensure Sarasota Memorial continues to bring world-class healthcare to our growing community—Kevin, John, Michael and Jackie will be instrumental in helping us achieve our strategic goals.”

Kevin Collins is an attorney and investment banker, who has lectured at Columbia, Harvard, Rutgers and Princeton universities. He has been admitted to the New Jersey, New York, Washington, D.C. and U.S. Supreme Court Bars. He is a retired director and member of the Operating Committee of The First Boston Corporation. Kevin has served on numerous boards, including Hackensack University, Meridian Medical Center, Hillcrest Health Services System and Rutgers University, and several alumni boards.  He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Rutgers University School of Law.

John Groetelaars is the former president and CEO of Hill-Rom. Previously he was executive vice president and president of Becton, Dickinson & Co., and a former group president at CR Bard. John currently serves as Chair for Zeus and independent director for Parexel and is on the compensation committee on both boards. He has previously served on the board of Dentsply Sirona and was their interim CEO. Prior executive experience includes commercial leadership roles globally at Boston Scientific Corporation, Guidant Corporation and Eli Lilly. He earned his MBA from Columbia University, New York City, and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Kettering University in Michigan.



Michael Klein was a teacher in Maryland before moving to Detroit, Mich. He worked for the Ogden Corporation before starting his own metal and steel businesses. Michael and his wife, Marcy, are the directors of the Marcy and Michael Klein Foundation. He is past chairman of the Ringling College of Art and Design Board of Trustees and is involved in numerous other businesses. Michael is a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees.



Jackie Tilton is an attorney who practiced in New York, New Jersey and Texas. Since retiring, she has served numerous non-profit organizations in various volunteer capacities. Jackie was a founding board member of the Chicago Children’s Theatre and is currently a board member of Wings Program, Inc. in the Chicago area, and a Ringling College of Art and Design trustee. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York University School of Law.
