Patricia D’Arcy Laughlin
Author & Artist at Patricia D’Arcy Laughlin, LLC
Patricia D’Arcy Laughlin, award-winning artist and author of The Sacrifices and Kingdoms Series, was born in Trinidad of British and French ancestry. A Floridian since 1979 and resident of Sarasota since 1990, she and her husband, Peter Laughlin, helped co-found various local charities including Sarasota Film Festival, Florida Winefest, The Sarasota Ballet, and Burns Court Cinemas.
Educated in Trinidad, the UK, and the USA, she has visited every continent except Antarctica.
“I learned at an early age that one learns more by listening than by talking,” Patricia explains. “I lived on two British islands, Trinidad and England, and world-traveled from young, which broadened my horizons and opened up my mind.”
She developed her own art medium, named by the media “Unique Stainings on Wood,” and was awarded “The Prize of Excellence” out of a 52 countries’ competition at Tonneins Museum in France.
Having always written stories, poems, and songs in notebooks, she has taken inspiration, not just from her own life but from many others she met along her journeys. After raising three children while designing and developing luxury waterfront homes with her husband, she eventually made time to write and publish the first two novels in her series, Sacrifices and Kingdoms, publishing Book One: “Sacrifices for Kingdoms” in 2023, and Book Two: “Sacrifices Beyond Kingdoms” in 2024.
“My multi-genre adult romance series crosses continents and cultures, places and races, duties and desires. Everybody has their own ‘Kingdom’ for which they make sacrifices. The story centers on Elizabeth, an equality-minded, philanthropic American Trinidadian, the mysterious European Prince Michael, and their other loves, lives, and lies.”
Her sensual love story is full of controversy, adventure, and danger. “Shocking secrets are unveiled, loyalties tested, mysteries eventually solved,” she promises of the series. Books One and Two are available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
