Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding citizens that the deadline to register to vote the November 5 General Election is this Monday, October 7.

“As most of us know by now, the November 5 General Election is going to be a busy one. We are expecting near historic voter turnout,” Turner said. “Individuals interested in voting in November must be registered at least 29 days in advance of the election—by the October 7 deadline.”

Registering to vote is fast and easy and can be done online atRegistertoVoteFlorida.gov or in person at the Sarasota, Venice or North Port elections office.

Turner also announced that sample ballots for the November 5 General Election are now available online. Voters may access their personalized sample ballot by visiting SarasotaVotes.gov and clicking on the Sample Ballot quick link icon at the top of the page.

“Your sample ballot is a great tool to help you do research before you vote,” Turner said. “It’s particularly important for this election because there are so many races, referendums and constitutional amendments on the ballot.”

Turner reminds voters that mailed sample ballots will be sent to registered Sarasota County voters, except those who have requested vote-by-mail (absentee) ballots, in the next two weeks.

“Whether you download and print your sample ballot from SarasotaVotes.gov or fill in the sample ballot you received in the mail, a good practice is to bring your completed sample ballot with you as a reference guide if you plan to vote in person,” Turner said.
