The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (The Ringling) is proud to announce a grant of $55,000 from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support Health and Accessibility programming. This year’s grant is the second of a three-year grant agreement for the program totaling $135,000 from 2022 to 2025.
“We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County for this multi-year support,” says Steven High, Executive Director of The Ringling. “With this grant, we are able to provide support for a variety of programs and exhibitions that continue to underscore our commitment to programming that is accessible to all and to further connect to our community.”
The grant supports program staff, Community Gallery exhibitions, and innovative programming. The grant enabled a new paid position integral to the development and maintenance of a growing arts and health program exploring the links and mutual benefits between the arts and the healthcare sector. Community Foundation of Sarasota County is the lead sponsor of the Community Gallery, a free public exhibition space dedicated to displaying works of art produced by community-based, non-profit, and student groups in the local area. The innovative programs offered by The Ringling provide access to the museum for people of all abilities.
This year’s funding will support the soon-to-be announced MakerSpace Mondays that will include free artmaking in the MakerSpace Studio on the museum’s Legacy Day, a day of free admission to the Museum of Art.
Funding for this program is provided by the Conniff Memorial Fund, the Lentini Fund, the Allen Fund and the Esslinger Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
