With over 100 Auctions under his belt there’s still something that never fails to excite Andrew Ford, the owner and auctioneer of Sarasota Estate Auction. Sure it’s the actual day of the auction, but it’s the build up to the auction that gets to him, with each day counting down and getting closer to the actual event. “I always get pretty excited as we get closer and closer to the day when our eclectic mix of treasures will be on the block. It’s like opening day in Baseball, The Super Bowl and Christmas morning all in one,” says Ford. And his next auction that culminates at his Sarasota Estate Auction & Sarasota Trading Location at 522 South Pineapple Avenue on August 24 and 25 is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

The auction features a diverse collection of Fine Art including an original Milton Avery pastel titled “Beach Loungers” one of his most important subjects. Avery was known as a Representational Colorist, his work is seminal to American abstract painting. His work can be found in the Whitney, Smithsonian, The Met, The Barnes, Wadsworth Athenaeum Museum, and MFA Boston essentially a “Who’s who of America’s most prestigious institutions.

The Avery is a major piece but we have an array of treasures,” says Ford, pointing to a lifetime collection of Estate Jewelry featuring important 14, 18 & 22 carat jewels. This immense collection consists of over 100 lots of estate fresh platinum, diamonds, gold, sterling, necklaces, bracelets and rings signed by notable designers.

A Sarasota Estate Auction would not be complete if it didn’t present its share of fine art that includes over 350 original paintings, prints and graphic design works. The renowned Venezuelan artist Jorge Blanco is prominently featured with five of his works ranging from his iconic sculpture to his whimsical graphic selections the world has come to brand as The Art of happiness.

A large collection of Versace porcelain, flatware and stemware will be featured as well as Louis Vuitton handbags and designer purses. This auction also features Chinese, Oriental Rugs, a significant Inuit Collection and an important Japanese collection, from the Japanese inspired and historic Konstantinou family home, located at the southernmost point of the Sanderling Club.

The auction is rounded out with its share of antique furniture, lighting, sterling silver flatware and bronzes once again proving that there is literally something for everyone at every Sarasota Estate Auction. The auction is open to the public and currently accepting bids online at www.sarasotaestateauction.com.
