Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast is pleased to announce the hiring of Robyn Powell as their new Controller. Powell joins the not-for-profit land trust in support of their urgent mission to protect Southwest Florida’s land and water for the benefit of people and nature. She brings over 30 years of accounting, finance, and leadership experience in the non-profit and for-profit sectors, including the highly regulated healthcare industry.
“We are delighted to welcome Robyn to Conservation Foundation,” comments Christine P. Johnson, president of Conservation Foundation. “As our impact continues to grow, so too must our dedicated behind-the-scenes team. Robyn’s skills will play a critical role in ensuring our continued sustainability and success.”
Powell is a seasoned financial specialist with a background in healthcare financial management, strategic planning, and operational improvement. She’s held leadership roles, including Chief Financial Officer, at multiple hospitals where she was instrumental in financial forecasting, revenue cycle management, and the implementation of EMR and billing systems. Powell is also skilled in regulatory compliance, managed care contracting, and the expansion of HRIS systems, demonstrating a strong ability to guide organizations through complex financial landscapes.
“I am excited to be part of this passionate team doing such incredibly urgent and meaningful work,” comments Powell. “I love nature, so for me, being able to utilize my skillset in a way that has such a substantial long-term impact is truly incredible. I look forward to helping Conservation Foundation protect Southwest Florida’s special places for generations to come.”
Powell recently moved to Florida from South Bend, Indiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Ball State University, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Her first day with Conservation Foundation was June 17.
