Sarasota County Libraries Announces 2024 Off the Page Author Line-Up

Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources is unveiling the line-up for the 2024 Off the Page literary celebration, launching Nov. 1.

This year’s program will feature best-selling authors Amor Towles, Soman Chainani, Chef Edward Lee, Rebecca Renner, Curtis Sittenfeld and social media influencer Oliver James. Hosted across all 10 county library branches, the celebration includes local authors, writing workshops, book signings, outreach events and more. All events are free and open to the public.

“Our goal is to spotlight literature and writing within Sarasota’s vibrant arts community,” said Dr. Renée Di Pilato, director of Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources. “We aim to foster connections through the exploration and discussion of varied literary genres, from novels and plays to comics and beyond.”

Soman Chainani
Thursday, Nov. 7, 6 p.m. at Shannon Staub Library
Bestselling author of “The School for Good & Evil” series, now a major motion picture from Netflix.

Amor Towles
Friday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m. at Venice Performing Arts Center
Bestselling author of “Table for Two,” “Rules of Civility” and “A Gentleman in Moscow,” now streaming on Paramount +.

Chef Edward Lee
Tuesday, Nov. 12, 6 p.m. at Shannon Staub Library
Celebrity chef and James Beard Award-winning author of “Buttermilk Graffiti.”

Oliver James
Wednesday, Nov. 13, 3 p.m. at Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Library
Wednesday, Nov. 13, 6 p.m. at Fruitville Library
Social media influencer and motivational speaker known for inspiring audiences worldwide with his personal journey to literacy.

Rebecca Renner
Thursday, Nov. 14, 6 p.m. at Selby Library
National Geographic contributing writer and author of “Gator Country.”

Curtis Sittenfeld
Saturday, Nov. 16, 3 p.m. at Selby Library
Acclaimed short story writer and novelist, bestselling author of “Prep,” “American Wife,” “Eligible” and “Romantic Comedy.”

The event will also feature a Family Day on Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library, showcasing international bestselling children’s author Douglas Wood, author of the “Old Turtle” series, and award-winning illustrator David C. Gardner. Activities will include food trucks, story time and a Creation Station craft for families to enjoy together.
