Sarasota Rising, a community-driven nonprofit arts initiative, was rewarded a $5,000 Capacity Grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and the John & Tana Sandefur Foundation. The grant will fund a professional fundraising consultant for the initiative’s annual interdisciplinary arts celebration, The Living Arts Festival, to boost its capacity for future growth and sustainability.
The Living Arts Festival, in its inaugural year, is a weeklong event that brings together artists, performers, and organizations from across the region to showcase their talents and engage with the community. The festival aims to highlight the diversity and vibrancy of the local arts scene and plays a crucial role in stimulating the local economy and enhancing cultural tourism.
“The support from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County is a game changer for our festival,” says Jeffery Kin, executive director of Sarasota Rising. “This grant enables us to hire a fundraising consultant who will play a pivotal role in structuring our funding strategy, ensuring we can continue to bring art and culture to the forefront of our community for years to come.”
In addition to financing a professional fundraising consultant, the money will help to develop a robust fundraising plan tailored to the needs and opportunities of the Living Arts Festival. This helps build long-term partnerships with local businesses and arts patrons, and increase efforts to reach a broader audience, ensuring maximum community participation and engagement.
Sarasota Rising’s Living Arts Festival is scheduled to take place from Nov. 9-24, and will feature a variety of performances, educational events, and exhibitions at venues throughout the area.
