The Players Centre Hosts Three Upcoming Summer Auditions

Artists from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds, experience levels and physicalities are encouraged to audition for the following shows.
Non-Musicals: Two (2) minute (max.) monologue is highly encouraged. The Director may request a cold reading from the script.

The Mantle
The Mantle by Jalex Scott

Synopsis:
On the anniversary of the most traumatic experience of his life, Benny Craft records a suicide note and sets it up to post on social media at midnight. Armed with a to-do list and pursued by a handsome, pushy stranger, he sets off on his ‘last day’ to visit his therapist and the two most important women in his life. But is Benny really looking to say goodbye or desperately searching for a reason to not have to?

Synopsis:
Family affairs come into play during a weekend at Martha’s Vineyard as an engaged millennial couple find their respective unattached boomer parents have the upper hand.
Characters:
LAUREN HAMILTON – 50s. Interior designer/artist, free spirited, warm and vivacious. TED’s mother.
TED HAMILTON – 30s. Sportswriter, sincere and resolute, but flexible. Engaged to MARCY, but married to his job.
SCOTT SPENCER – 50s-early 60s. Actuary, circumspect, charming and good-natured. MARCY’s father.
MARCY SPENCER – Late 20s. High-end lingerie model, sweet but accustomed to having her way. Extremely high maintenance.
GLADYS PERKINS – 60s. Friend of LAUREN. Utterly flamboyant, bright and quite wealthy.
CHARLES MITCHELL – 70s. Lifelong resident of Martha’s Vineyard, crusty but kind, and well into a romance with LOTTIE, his former nurse.
LOTTIE JENSON – 60s. Nurse, sensible with a sense of humor, more than willing to move on from a caretaker/patient relationship with CHARLES.

Synopsis:
Benjamin’s got excellent grades, very proud parents and, since he helped Mrs. Robinson with her zipper, a fine future ahead of him…A cult novel, a classic film, a quintessential hit of the 1960s, now Benjamin’s disastrous sexual odyssey is brought vividly to life in this world stage premiere production.
Characters:
BENJAMIN BRADDOCK – 21 going on 17. Young beyond his years. Rich, protected, indulged. No real-life experience to speak of. Socially infantile. A virgin – no experience with women. Negative, pessimistic outlook on life (until he meets Elaine). Frenetic, nervous, excitable – nothing in his personality is laid back.
MRS. JUDITH ROBINSON – Early 40s. Profoundly unhappy. Bitter resentment about her life. Forced to marry due to pregnancy. Love/Hate relationship with that daughter, Elaine. Resents her husband, Hal. Forced into a life she never wanted. An Alcoholic. When drunk, no inhibitions whatsoever. Sexually voracious. Trysts, relationships are her only way of exerting CONTROL OVER HER LIFE.
ELAINE ROBINSON – 19-20. College student. Loves her life. Joyous, enthusiastic outlook. Wants to experience everything! Naive, but can’t wait to learn! “The world is a great place just waiting to be explored, full of delights.” Compliant personality. Daddy’s little girl. Not one to go against the tide.
MR. HAROLD (HAL) ROBINSON – 40s-50s. Successful Corporation Lawyer. Travels around the country seeing clients. Narcissistic. World centers around him. Full of advice; full of himself. Sham marriage – only for show to the rest of the world.
MR. BRADDOCK – 40s-50s. Ben’s father. Successful Businessman: Wealthy; prideful. Needs to impress, especially his best friend, Hal Robinson. Loves Benjamin very much. Proud of his son! Easy going, until he doesn’t get his way.
MRS. BRADDOCK – 40s-50s. Ben’s mother. Dotes on her family. Adores her son. My “Genius”. “Kvelling” over his graduation/accomplishments. Spoiled her son with her love. “Nothing is too good for my Benjamin”.
STRIPPER – ’20s-’40s: Hard edge to her good nature. Hard working; just trying to make a living.
