March 22, 2023 – Sarasota
Halfacre Construction Company, a Lakewood Ranch-based commercial construction company, recently completed work on an 11,000-square-foot building for Harvest House, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the premise that all people deserve safe, stable housing and the opportunity to renew their hope and dream again.
Construction completed by Halfacre Construction on the new Life Enrichment Campus (LEC) included seven administrative offices, two private spaces for counseling, four classrooms, a 4,500-square-foot multipurpose space, two childcare spaces for different ages, catering kitchen and high exposed ceilings.
Located at 3650 17th Street in Sarasota, the $2.5 million project started in fall 2021. Halfacre Construction Company performed the site development and construction of the new pre-engineered metal structure. Zoller Autrey Architects was a partner on the project.
As the first infrastructure expansion dedicated to wraparound support services, the Life Enrichment Campus will now serve as a hub for the community to access supportive and affordable housing, nutritious groceries, life-skills support, addiction recovery and more.
Currently, Harvest House provides life enrichment activities to more than 150 clients weekly. 100 of these clients attend classes five nights a week with no existing classroom infrastructure.
“We have built a place where love is louder, and the light is brighter,” said Erin Minor, chief executive officer of Harvest House. “For decades to come, the LEC will be a symbol of breaking barriers to human prosperity. Even after 31 years of serving the community, Harvest House is just getting started.”
A ribbon-cutting and grand opening event was held on Friday, March 17. The event attracted over 50 guests and included light refreshments, a stage lighting demonstration and a quartette performance by Upward Notes. Local nonprofits were also in attendance to share their mission with attendees.
